Select the feature you actually need
A co-op session, moving a save, and installing a mod are different compatibility questions. Larian's support pages specify only certain combinations. In particular, an FAQ that confirms iPad cross-play with PC/Mac does not prove cross-play with every console, and the cross-save note for Steam and Nintendo Switch is not a general cloud-save promise.
| Goal | Larian documents | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Play co-op between PC/Mac and iPad | Supported cross-play | That iPad can join PS4, Xbox, or Switch sessions |
| Play iPad with PS4, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch | Larian's iPad FAQ says those console combinations are not supported | That same-platform editions can join across different console generations |
| Continue a save between Steam and Nintendo Switch | The platform FAQ says owners of both can use cross-saves | That any console, iPad, or PC storefront pair shares saves |
| Use mods | Larian says modding is supported on PC; many popular mods became console Gift Bags | That PC mod files can be installed on consoles or that Gift Bags equal every mod |

Check editions before inviting a co-op partner
Larian's newer-platform announcement adds Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S releases. The older FAQ's compatibility statements should not be silently expanded to those editions; verify the current official FAQ for the exact source and destination.
- Write down each player's exact platform and edition (for example, PC/Mac, iPad, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Switch 2, PS5, or Xbox Series).
- For a PC/Mac–iPad pairing, use Larian's explicit cross-play statement and confirm both clients are updated to compatible versions before scheduling.
- If a console is involved, do not extrapolate from PC/Mac–iPad support. The iPad FAQ explicitly rules out its listed PS4, Xbox, and Switch pairings; consult Larian's latest support page for any newer edition pairing.
- For a save-carryover question, look up the separate cross-save statement instead of using the co-op matrix. A supported multiplayer pairing does not establish save transfer.

Mod support has its own platform boundary
Larian's support answer says modding is supported on PC. For console players, it notes that many popular mods were developed into free Gift Bags. That is a distinction between PC modding and console-provided content; it is not a guarantee that any workshop item, mod manager, or custom mod file works on console.
- Record whether the game is the PC version or a console version before following a mod guide.
- On PC, identify the storefront, game edition, and mod source; check that the mod is made for that edition and current version.
- On console, look for the built-in Gift Bag option described by Larian rather than attempting to copy PC mod files.
- If a modded save stops loading after a mod change, preserve a separate backup before disabling or removing mods; ask the mod author/community for mod-specific help, not account credentials.

A safe support and discussion path
When official pages do not cover a particular new-console combination, treat it as unknown rather than filling the gap with a player anecdote. Larian Support is the primary source for platform boundaries; forums and Steam discussions are useful for symptom comparison only. No GamerWin user comments or hands-on multiplayer results are represented here.

Before you play
- I named the exact platform and edition for every player or save involved.
- I separated co-op support from save transfer and mod availability.
- I used only a platform pairing explicitly documented by Larian, or treated it as unconfirmed.
- I did not infer that console Gift Bags permit arbitrary PC mods.
Frequently asked questions
Can iPad players co-op with PC or Mac players?
Yes. Larian's iPad cross-play FAQ says PC/Mac and iPad cross-play is supported.
Can iPad co-op with PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch?
Larian's FAQ says cross-play with PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch versions is not supported. Check the current FAQ for exact newer console editions rather than assuming compatibility.

No. Larian names Steam and Nintendo Switch specifically. Do not generalize that statement to iPad, other consoles, or other storefront pairs.
Are mods available on console?
Larian says modding is supported on PC and notes that many popular mods were developed into console Gift Bags; arbitrary PC mods are not thereby supported on consoles.
