Switch end-of-day sequence
KRAFTON's Gameplay FAQ gives a platform-specific sequence: sleep each day, click through all screens that appear, then after waking either quit to the Dinkum Main Menu from the Options tab or leave with the Switch Home button. Do not collapse this into 'press sleep and close immediately'; the intervening screens are part of the documented instruction.
- Before bed, finish any action you do not want to repeat and avoid force-closing during a transition.
- Sleep in-game and continue through each displayed day-end screen until your character has woken.
- If you are done, use Options → Main Menu, or use the Switch Home button as the FAQ describes.
- On the next launch, check the world and recent inventory/build changes before assuming the previous session was saved.

Switch and PC are not interchangeable save instructions
The FAQ's day-end instruction appears in KRAFTON's Nintendo Switch Gameplay FAQ. Its separate save-location article lists Windows and Linux/Proton directories, but does not say that sleeping is the PC save method. Use the platform's own current support instructions; do not copy a Switch Home-button step into PC troubleshooting or assume the save path alone proves a valid backup.
| Platform in the cited docs | What is documented | Safe interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | Sleep each day, click through all screens, then quit after waking | Complete the shown sequence; no live save verification is provided |
| Windows PC | A LocalLow folder location is published | That is a location reference, not a guaranteed backup or restore procedure |
| Linux via Steam Proton | A compatibility-data path is published | Confirm the exact Steam library/Proton environment before looking for files |

A cautious checkpoint routine
The checklist below is a memory aid, not a save inspector. It cannot read the Switch, confirm a successful write, or recover a lost day. If the game hangs during a transition, record the platform and visible screen before trying disruptive steps.
- Use the platform-specific checkboxes below; for Switch, mark the sequence complete only after waking from sleep and clearing every screen.
- For a PC file backup, close the game first and copy—not move or rename—the official save directory to a separate location. The publisher publishes the locations but does not promise this manual copy is a tested restore.
- Keep the original and copied folder untouched until you have confirmed the game launches and the intended world loads.
- Do not upload save files publicly; they can contain personal or world data. Ask official support if a backup does not appear where expected.

If sleep or exit appears stuck
The cited FAQ documents the intended sequence, not recovery for a frozen transition. Avoid deleting a world or repeatedly force-quitting based on an unverified forum tip. If you must close an unresponsive title, note that this may interrupt a write and check the world's last visible state on the next launch.
- Record that you were on Switch and whether the character had woken or any result screen was still visible.
- After the next launch, inspect the world and recent changes before repeating the same risky action.
- If the pattern repeats, contact KRAFTON support with the platform, approximate time, exact screen and safe reproduction details; keep personal information out of public posts.

Before you play
- Switch: sleep to end the day.
- Switch: click through every result screen and wait until awake.
- Only then quit from Options → Main Menu or use Switch Home.
- PC: use the platform-specific save location; do not infer Switch sleep rules apply.
- Before any manual backup/restore, close the game and preserve an untouched copy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I close Dinkum as soon as the sleep animation begins on Switch?
KRAFTON says to click through all screens and quit after you wake up. This guide does not verify when a particular console has finished writing a save.
Does the Switch sleep sequence prove my Steam save is safe?
No. The cited sleep instruction is in the Switch FAQ. PC documentation separately lists save-file locations; it does not describe this as the Steam save method.
Will GamerWin recover a missing world if I use this checklist?
No. The checklist cannot read, copy, validate or restore a save. Keep an independent backup and contact official support for account/save-specific help.
