Choose the character set you want to carry
Bungie describes Cross Save as selecting one account's characters to access across connected platforms. It does not permanently move or combine characters. Other platform characters are dormant while the chosen set is active; disabling Cross Save is the route back to those original characters.
| Question | Bungie's rule | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Will separate character sets merge? | No; one active set is selected | Identify the platform account containing the characters you intend to use |
| Are the other characters deleted? | Bungie says they become dormant while Cross Save is active | Keep access to the original platform accounts |
| Can I switch back immediately? | No; disabling creates a 90-day wait to re-enable | Do not activate casually to test a second account |
| Does Silver affect deactivation? | Silver purchased or added can create a 90-day disable restriction | Check purchase/addition timing before making account changes |

A conservative preflight before activation or deactivation
The checker collects only your acknowledgments in this tab. It cannot see which platform accounts are linked or whether a Silver restriction applies. If an answer is unknown, stop and verify it in your Bungie account before selecting Deactivate.
- List each linked platform account and the character set you want active; do not assume Cross Save combines them.
- Check whether Silver was purchased or added recently. Bungie says it can block disabling for 90 days.
- If considering deactivation, decide whether a 90-day reactivation lockout is acceptable before continuing.
- Authenticate all connected accounts before changing the setup; if you cannot access one, resolve access with that platform first.
- Use Bungie's Cross Save setup page for account-specific status. Do not paste account IDs, recovery codes or purchase details into GamerWin or public discussions.

Keep Cross Save and Cross Play separate
Cross Save determines which character set appears across linked platforms. Cross Play determines who can form fireteams and how activity matchmaking is pooled. A fireteam problem is not evidence that characters need to be migrated, and character access is not proof that a particular activity uses the same matchmaking pool.

If an account cannot authenticate
Bungie says every linked platform account must authenticate to enable or disable Cross Save. If the login step fails, resolve access through the platform account provider rather than repeatedly changing the Cross Save setup.
- Try Bungie's listed browser steps in order: clear cookies/cache, use a private window, try another browser, or use the official Destiny Companion app.
- If a connected platform account cannot be authenticated, contact that platform's support to restore access.
- Bungie says it cannot remove connected platform accounts from profiles; do not assume support can detach an account for you.

Bungie says Cross Save selects one active character set across linked platforms; it does not merge characters. Disabling imposes a 90-day reactivation wait, and Silver purchases/additions can prevent disabling for 90 days.
