Activity and matchmaking-pool preflight

This labels the scenario you select; it does not look up a live activity or lobby.

Bungie describes noncompetitive matchmaking across supported platforms. Verify the in-game settings and current Bungie notice before queueing.

Identify the activity before changing settings

Bungie's guide makes a key distinction between invitations and matchmaking. A cross-platform fireteam may form, yet competitive activity matchmaking can place the group into the PC pool when a PC player is present. Trials of Osiris requires Cross Play enabled under the cited guide.

Trace a missed invite without changing account data

The Bungie guide says players can invite with an exact Bungie Name and manage Fireteam privacy, invitations and friend requests in the Roster or Bungie.net settings. Xbox and Microsoft Store PC invites have an additional documented interaction when Cross Play is disabled.

  1. Ask each player to confirm they are online in the intended Destiny 2 platform account.
  2. Use the exact Bungie Name, including its identifier, in the Roster invite search.
  3. Check Fireteam privacy and incoming invite settings; do not publish private identifiers in a public thread.
  4. For Xbox console or Microsoft Store on PC, confirm Cross Play is enabled if the invite is between those environments.
  5. If the activity is competitive and a PC player is in the party, expect Bungie's PC pool behavior rather than treating it as an invitation failure.

Use the activity preflight as a routing aid

The local tool labels the selected activity and platform mix against Bungie's published description. It does not discover platform ownership, current settings, online state, matchmaking population or server health. Confirm the live in-game prompt and current Bungie support page before starting a high-stakes queue.

If a console player opted out of Cross Play

Bungie's guide says PlayStation and Xbox console players can opt out; Xbox uses console privacy controls, while PlayStation has an in-game setting. Disabling Cross Play narrows matchmaking to same-platform players who also opted out. Re-enable only if that is the player's intended setting.

  1. On PlayStation, review the in-game Cross Play setting described by Bungie.
  2. On Xbox, review Settings → General → Online Safety & Family → Privacy & Online Safety → Xbox Privacy → View Details and Customize → Communication and Multiplayer.
  3. If Xbox was set to Block, Bungie's guide identifies Allow for cross-network play as the re-enable path; review communication preferences separately.
  4. Return to the lobby and re-check the exact invite and activity. The local checker cannot confirm the setting changed or that matchmaking is available.

What if a console player joins a PC player's competitive fireteam?

Bungie says the fireteam is matched into the PC player pool for that activity.

Is Cross Save the same as Cross Play?

Does the checker test my invite?

No. It only labels the activity/platform combination you select.
