Build one working chain instead of every station

The early constraint is not a shortage of possible activities; it is knowing which station unlocks the next useful item. The Wiki's current crafting table distinguishes hand-crafting from Basic and Copper Workbench recipes. Keep this first route deliberately short so you can tell which dependency failed.

Wood comes from roots near the Core. The cited table lists a Basic Workbench at 8 wood, torches at one wood for three, a Furnace at 20 dirt blocks on the Basic Workbench, and a Copper Workbench at 8 wood plus 6 copper bars. Treat those quantities as a reference to compare with your in-game menu, not a promise across patches.

  1. Collect wood near the Core. Hand-craft torches for a visible return route and a Basic Workbench.
  2. At the Basic Workbench, check the Furnace recipe. Collect its displayed dirt requirement, craft and place it.
  3. Mine visible copper ore in the accessible starting area, put it in the Furnace, and collect copper bars.
  4. Return to the Basic Workbench, inspect the Copper Workbench recipe in your own build, and craft it when its materials are met.
  5. At the Copper Workbench, choose the tool that removes your immediate bottleneck rather than crafting a whole set automatically.

Use the first missing dependency as your next task

If you are short on copper bars, adding another workbench does nothing: trace ore collection and furnace output. If you have bars but cannot see the workbench, check that you are interacting with the Basic Workbench, not only opening hand-crafting. The Wiki lists copper tools under the Copper Workbench, not under the hand-crafting menu.

The Wiki's crafting table is broad and can be changed by updates. Compare the station label and ingredient icons in your installed build before committing scarce bars. A different recipe is a version difference to record, not a reason to force an old checklist.

Worked example: six bars do not finish the workbench alone

Illustrative planning example, not a played save: you have six copper bars and zero wood. The cited table's Copper Workbench requires six bars and eight wood. You have met only one of two inputs; mining more copper cannot resolve this specific block. Collect wood, reopen the Basic Workbench recipe, then craft when your displayed requirements are satisfied.

This is also a useful stopping point for a new player. You have light, a return path, ore processing and a tool station. You can now choose whether the next problem is farming, combat or exploring rather than following a stale universal boss route.

Record a mismatch instead of guessing

If a recipe differs, note your platform, build shown in-game, station, item name, and displayed ingredients. That makes a correction actionable and separates a wiki mismatch from a mistake in the crafting chain.

Before you play

  • Torches and a return route are available.
  • Basic Workbench and Furnace are placed.
  • Copper ore is processed into bars before planning copper recipes.
  • The installed menu confirms the next station's ingredients.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I craft a torch but not a copper tool?

They sit at different stages. The cited crafting table places torches in hand-crafting and copper tools at the Copper Workbench. Check that station and its recipe.

Do I need a boss kill before a Copper Workbench?

This route does not depend on a boss. Confirm your installed build's recipe, collect its materials and use the correct station.

Were these quantities tested in a live game?

No. They are attributed community-Wiki values, used in an editorial dependency example. Your installed menu is the final authority.
