Identify branch, mode and map before copying

  1. Confirm whether the installation is Conan Exiles Enhanced (UE5/Steam) or Conan Exiles Legacy (UE4); console versions remain on the UE4 branch per Funcom's page.
  2. Record whether the database is Exiled Lands or Isle of Siptah and whether it is single-player, private server or Official server.
  3. For Exiled Lands single-player, close the game and preserve the documented `ConanSandbox\Saved\game.db` before launching the Enhanced version.
  4. For a private server, confirm the server owner copied the correct Exiled Lands database into the corresponding Enhanced server folder; the dedicated-server folder name changes.
  5. Do not try to reuse a UE4 Isle of Siptah database as an Enhanced Exiled Lands database; use the published character migration route and plan to rebuild lost world structures.

Preserve a rollback boundary

Funcom states UE4 databases are readable by UE5 but the reverse is not true after conversion. A copied database is only a safety copy if you preserve it outside the folder that the new client will update.

  1. Make two dated copies of the original database/folder to a separate location and verify the copy size before updating.
  2. Keep the untouched UE4 copy separate from the active Enhanced save directory.
  3. Launch the Enhanced edition only after confirming the intended branch, map and database.
  4. Verify the expected character and world; do not start another save or overwrite the legacy backup until confirmed.
  5. If structures or progress are missing, stop writing new data and follow Funcom's current recovery/support instructions.

Before you play

  • I identified UE4 Legacy versus UE5 Enhanced and platform.
  • I confirmed Exiled Lands versus Isle of Siptah and the exact mode/server.
  • The original database is backed up outside the active save folder.
  • I understand UE5 save conversion cannot roll back to UE4.
  • I did not treat user comments as migration instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Enhanced save be opened again in Legacy?

Funcom says the reverse UE5-to-UE4 transfer is not supported.

Do Isle of Siptah bases migrate into Enhanced?

Funcom says bases/placed structures cannot be preserved in the same way because the map was merged and coordinates changed.

Will this tool copy `game.db`?

No. It is only a browser-local checklist and cannot read files.
