Identify the load before changing the zone
Update 4.3 adds mixed-material support and says trucks with mixed mined material dump it only where every product it contains is allowed. That all-products condition makes an old single-ore assumption unsafe. Inspect the truck or storage contents and compare each item against the destination's accepted products.
- Record whether the load is a single product or mixed mined material using the current inspector.
- Write down every product shown in the mixed load.
- Inspect the dumping designation or receiving storage and confirm every contained product is allowed there.
- If an ore sorter is part of the route, check its current inputs/outputs and whether it is configured to accept truck delivery.

Trace the designation and assignment chain
The Designations wiki says mining areas must be inside a Mine Control Tower operation area; dumping zones provide an automatic destination for trucks. For a manually emptied storage, the page describes assigning a vehicle and storage to the tower, allowing the relevant material and ordering the storage emptied. These are separate controls: a valid destination zone does not prove the vehicle is assigned or covered.
- Confirm the mining designation lies within the active Mine Control Tower area and that the tower is operating.
- Check the truck is an eligible assigned transport and has a reachable path to the dump destination.
- For a storage-emptying job, verify the storage-to-tower assignment, permitted product and empty command separately.
- Check whether other trucks can use the storage or zone; restrict assignments only if the observed routing requires it.
- After changing a permission or route, wait for the vehicle state to update and inspect its next job.

Keep versioned density advice out of a current estimate
The official wiki's Designations article labels its density table as Version 0.4.9C. This guide therefore does not estimate how many units a dump area can hold or promise a ramp height. Use the current game UI and Update 4.3 changelog for present mixed-material behavior; community blueprints may have been authored for a different build.
| Evidence | Safe interpretation | Not established |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed cargo inspector lists products A and B | A destination must accept both under the 4.3 rule | That a zone accepting only A will partially dump it |
| Truck waits at a zone | Inspect every load item, zone rule, assignment and route | That the truck is broken |
| Designations page shows old density table | It is historical v0.4.9C reference only | A current-build volume calculation |

Before you play
- Installed build and mod state recorded.
- Mixed-load contents inspected item by item.
- Destination accepts every item in the load.
- Mine Control Tower coverage and operation checked.
- Vehicle/storage assignment and route checked separately.
- Obsolete v0.4.9C density figures excluded from current planning.
Frequently asked questions
Can an Update 4.3 mixed load go to a zone that accepts only one item in it?
The developer says it dumps only where every product contained in the mixed load is allowed.
Does every mining designation work anywhere on the map?
The game-linked wiki says the designation must be within a Mine Control Tower's operation area.
Can this tool calculate a dump ramp or inspect cargo?
No. It stores only the observations you enter; it does not read the game or compute terrain capacity.

- Captain of Industry Wiki: Designations (Community)
A community-editable, game-linked wiki page explains mine designations, Mine Control Tower coverage and dumping zones. Its density table is explicitly version 0.4.9C, so this guide does not reuse those old numeric densities. Current Update 4.3 adds mixed-material handling; use its current changelog for mixed loads.

November 6, 2026: added an Update 4.3 mixed-load checklist and explicitly excluded the wiki's obsolete v0.4.9C density figures; no terrain or save was tested.
