Separate three kinds of access
Owning a cross-save-capable game on two platforms, owning a DLC entitlement on both, and having a platform-specific SHiFT reward are different checks. A shared SHiFT identity does not turn one platform's storefront purchases into another platform's entitlements.

Destination preflight before downloading a character
- Confirm you own Borderlands 4 on both the source and destination platforms and have linked both to the same SHiFT account.
- List the DLC or Vault Hunter content the character currently uses; check the destination platform's actual account/store entitlement, not another player's purchase.
- If the destination lacks that DLC, do not assume the character will retain access to those weapons, gear or Vault Hunter there.
- Before returning from a destination without matching DLC, review Gearbox's current warning about equipped gear and location errors; do not move the character into DLC-specific content on an entitlement-mismatched endpoint.
- Record platform-specific SHiFT rewards separately. Redeeming a key or reward on one platform does not make it appear on another.
- Update the game and read the latest official patch notes before transfer; Version 1.11 includes cross-content fixes but is not a promise that every DLC mismatch is resolved.

What the local DLC checker can and cannot do
Use it to remember whether the destination title and matching DLC have been verified. It does not query platform stores, SHiFT, DLC inventory, cloud state or the player's save; treat unknown ownership as a stop-and-check condition.

Keep community discussion specific and private
A forum post can help identify a matching symptom, but platform, DLC pack, Vault Hunter, source/destination direction and game version matter. Use official support for account or entitlement decisions. Never post login email, order numbers, security codes or save files publicly.

Frequently asked questions
Do Golden Keys move with my Vault Hunter?
No. Gearbox says SHiFT rewards such as Golden Keys redeemed on one platform are platform-specific.
Can I use a DLC Vault Hunter on a platform without that DLC?
Gearbox says DLC-specific Vault Hunters and gear are not available there unless the destination has the same DLC.
Is cross-save a cloud backup?
No. The official support article explicitly says it is not a restore service for deleted or missing saves.
Did version 1.11 fix every DLC mismatch?
No. Its notes list specific fixes; they do not supersede the support article's platform entitlement rules or promise every mismatch is fixed.
