Follow a single chain
Treat production as a chain with distinct stages: source or raw material → assigned task → station/action → output storage → next use. If one link is broken, adding more labor downstream can simply create a larger queue.
| Symptom | Inspect in this order | First reversible fix |
|---|---|---|
| No raw material arrives | Source exists → task is enabled → worker can reach it | Correct the one visible task/access issue |
| Station appears idle | Station is usable → current recipe/input is present → assigned job matches | Supply one missing input or correct one job |
| Output stops despite active work | Destination storage has room → item is accepted → route is reachable | Free or designate an appropriate destination if the UI supports it |
| Worker behaves differently after update | Build/version → current patch notes → mode/platform context | Re-check the new menu before rebuilding the entire settlement |

Controlled troubleshooting steps
- Choose one output that should exist and identify its current source, required inputs and intended destination from the in-game interface.
- Check whether the source is available and whether the worker/task/recipe is visibly enabled in this build.
- Check the physical route and storage capacity/acceptance before changing workforce size.
- Change one link in the chain, then observe the settlement for the game's normal work cycle; this page cannot establish how long that cycle should take.
- Record the platform/build and consult the latest official patch notes if the relevant menus or behavior recently changed. Community reports can suggest a hypothesis but remain unverified for your save.

Worker count is a later decision
Recruit only after identifying a persistent job that is actually short-staffed in your world. Neither the official overview nor this guide defines a universal villager-to-building ratio. Save-specific task access, inputs, route and patch behavior must be checked in-game.

Before you play
- I traced one product from source through output storage.
- I checked inputs and visible task/recipe state before recruiting.
- I changed one variable and observed what happened.
- I recorded build/platform before applying community troubleshooting advice.
Frequently asked questions
Should I recruit more villagers when production stalls?
Only after checking whether the task is actually understaffed. Missing inputs, inaccessible routes or full storage can look like a labor shortage.
Can this guide tell whether my worker is bugged?
No. It cannot inspect a save or current game state. Use official support/patch notes with platform, version and a reproducible example.

November 7, 2026: first publication. Reframes a vague 'add more workers' fix as an input/task/access/output checklist. No in-game production cycle or worker count was tested.
