Locate the room and classify the likely source
The publisher-hosted Maintenance page groups common flooding sources as hull breaches, opened or misconfigured exterior doors/hatches, and pumps that send water inward; it separately notes that ballast flora can interfere with a ballast pump. The page has older section markers, so use it as a troubleshooting map and confirm the live interface and equipment on your current version.
The publisher-hosted Status Monitor page says General Status presents room water and hull damage indicators. A highlighted room helps narrow where to inspect; it does not, by itself, tell you whether the cause is a leak, hatch, wiring signal or flora. If pressure is high, the maintenance page recommends appropriate diving protection before entering; do not enter an unsafe compartment to gather more data.
- Open General Status and identify which compartment is gaining water. Note whether the indicator also shows hull damage, and whether the room is a ballast or airlock that can normally contain water.
- If the room has hull damage, prioritize the breach and repair access. If it is adjacent to an exterior hatch, check the door/hatch state and airlock seal. If water rises without visible hull damage, inspect pump direction, manual control and any set_speed/set_targetlevel wiring before changing a connection.
- If the affected area is a ballast and its pump or nearby fixtures behave abnormally, consider ballast flora as a separate possibility; do not assume every ballast pump fault is flora or attack it without understanding the room hazards.
- Before entering a flooded compartment, confirm suitable diving gear and pressure conditions. Coordinate who repairs, who monitors water level and who pilots; avoid opening another exterior path that could worsen flooding.
- Recheck General Status after the suspected source is isolated. If water continues rising, record the room, indicator, pump state, hatch state and version, then share the note with the crew or ask the external community with that context.
| Clue | Check next | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Hull indicator in the flooded room | Inspect the hull breach and safe repair access | A map highlight does not perform or confirm a repair |
| Exterior hatch/airlock involved | Seal, state, wiring and whether it was forced or miswired | Do not open an exterior hatch just to test it during a flood |
| Pump seems to add water | Manual direction/state and connected control signals | Exact wiring varies by submarine |
| Ballast behaves unlike its normal control | Look for flora clues and inspect its pump separately | Old wiki details do not establish a current infection chance |
| Cause unclear | Use the local note builder and collect comparable observations | The tool cannot inspect a sub or classify the cause for you |

Ask players a question that can be answered
Steam Discussions is a user-generated venue, not GamerWin's own discussion board. For useful responses, include platform, mode, displayed version, stock/custom sub, room name, which status indicator changed, hatch state, pump state and what you already checked. Remove account names, chat logs with personal details and private server information before posting.
Example template: 'On [platform] version [build], [single-player/multiplayer] in [stock/custom sub], [room] water rises while [status indicator]. I checked [hull/hatch/pump] and saw [observation]. Is there a version-matched wiring or flora clue I missed?' Replace every bracket with your own evidence; this is a template, not a real player report.
| Good report detail | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Version and sub name | Separates patch or ship-layout differences |
| Exact room plus General Status clues | Makes the location and symptom reproducible |
| Pump/hatch checks already done | Avoids repeating generic first steps |
| Short clip or screenshot with private details removed | May show the state better than a vague symptom |
Before you play
- I located the affected room before changing wiring.
- I distinguished hull, hatch, pump and ballast-flora clues instead of assuming a cause.
- I checked pressure and suitable diving equipment before entering water.
- I coordinated the crew and rechecked the same room after intervention.
- I labeled any forum response as player advice and matched its version/sub.
Frequently asked questions
Can this tell me exactly what caused my flood?
No. You choose the suspected cause based on your own observation; the note builder only formats your entries and suggests a source-backed next check.
Does it submit the report to Steam?
No. It creates text in the browser only. Posting is an optional action you take yourself.
Does the guide cover the December Home & Harbor DLC?
No. At the November 7, 2026 review, the official announcement lists its release for December 2. This guide makes no post-release claims.

Publisher-hosted wiki checked November 7, 2026; page says last updated for 1.2.6.0 and contains an old mechanics date. Included as a clue to distinguish an infected ballast from ordinary pump behavior, not a current guaranteed spawn rate or removal recipe.
