Avowed New Game+: Does Your Completion Save Unlock the Mode?

Check the eligibility gate before starting over

The official announcement distinguishes players who complete the story after the Anniversary Update from players whose completion happened earlier. The latter need a completion save for NG+. It does not say every old save will automatically qualify, nor does this page know whether your current file carries the required completion flag.

A cautious save sequence

Use this sequence as a protection checklist, not a guarantee that every save will be accepted by every client.

1. Confirm the Anniversary Update is installed on the platform where you plan to continue; the published feature date is February 17, 2026, but this page cannot read your installed version.
2. Load the latest save that still lets you complete the main story. Keep it intact before replaying the final sequence.
3. If you completed before the update and the NG+ option is absent, use the preserved late-game save to complete the story after updating; then return to the main menu/in-game NG+ flow and read its prompt.
4. Create the NG+ save only after the game offers it. Keep the original completion file rather than overwriting your only known-good campaign save.
5. On Windows, Obsidian lists %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Avowed as the save folder. If you make a manual backup, close the game first and copy the folder rather than moving or editing files; this advice does not establish console or cloud behavior.

Platform and evidence limits

Xbox Wire announced the update for all players and a PS5 launch on the same date, but save handling can still differ by client. The Windows folder path is PC-only.
