Use the official carryover categories
The Anniversary Update article gives broad carryover classes rather than a full per-item database. It names unlocked abilities (except godlike abilities), unique weapons and armor, and unlocked enchantments. Its phrase 'everything else' resets to a new-game slate. If a specific item or quest flag matters, confirm the game's own NG+ warning rather than extrapolating from the category labels.
| Category | Published rule | Planning implication |
|---|---|---|
| Unlocked abilities | Carry over, except godlike abilities | Review your unlocked skill choices; do not count story-gated godlike abilities as retained |
| Unique weapons and armor | Carry over | Record the unique pieces you want to build around; do not assume common gear is included |
| Unlocked enchantments | Carry over | List the unlocks you rely on, then verify the prompt in-game |
| Other progress and items | Reset to a new-game slate | Assume quests and unspecified progression restart unless the game says otherwise |
| Challenge and attributes | Enemy stats increase; attribute cap moves from 15 to 30 | Plan for a tougher opening and later allocation room; this is not a guaranteed difficulty rating |

Turn the carryover list into a build plan
The source identifies categories, not a complete save schema; use your own inventory and the in-game confirmation to resolve item-level questions.
- Before launching NG+, list the unlocked abilities and enchantments that define your intended combat approach.
- Mark godlike abilities separately; the official summary explicitly excludes them from the carryover group.
- Write down unique weapons and armor you intend to use early. Do not include ordinary gear as confirmed carryover based on this summary alone.
- Choose a first-run attribute priority with the tougher enemies in mind, but remember that 30 is the announced cap, not a requirement to max every attribute immediately.
- Read the game's NG+ confirmation screen for anything more specific, and keep your original completed save until the new run has loaded successfully.

Difficulty scope
The source confirms enemy stat increases and a larger attribute cap, but does not publish exact enemy multipliers in this announcement. Custom game options can alter enemy damage, health and speed and player resources/carry capacity; the guide therefore avoids recommending a universal difficulty setting. Player discussions are useful for comparing experiences only when the post identifies its patch and configuration.

Before you play
- I separated named carryover categories from everything that resets.
- I did not count godlike abilities or ordinary equipment as confirmed carryover.
- I planned around stronger enemies without treating the 30-point cap as a mandatory build.
- I kept the original completed save and read the in-game confirmation before starting.
Frequently asked questions
Do all weapons and armor carry over?
Xbox Wire names unique weapons and armor; it does not establish that every common item carries over. Check the current in-game prompt for item-specific details.
Does New Game+ force one difficulty?
The source says enemies gain stats and describes custom modifiers for enemy and player settings. It does not give exact multipliers in the announcement.

- Xbox Wire: Avowed Anniversary Update and New Game+ (Official)
Xbox Wire identifies the Anniversary Update as live on February 17, 2026. It says a completion after the update enables creating an NG+ save; a completion save is needed for players who finished before the mode existed. It lists abilities except godlike abilities, unique weapons and armor, and unlocked enchantments as carryover, while other progress resets. Confirm current in-game prompts; this guide does not inspect a save.
