Check progression before network settings
- Confirm the host has met Etuwa and completed The Aranahe Clan in Kinglor Forest; earlier story progress can explain a locked co-op option.
- Confirm both players can access the internet and have finished any required first-launch/account setup.
- Compare platform and current game update on both sides; the Ubisoft article's supported platform list is authoritative if it changes.
- From the pause menu, open Co-Op → Co-op settings and verify Crossplay is On when the party spans platforms. Ubisoft says it is on by default.
- Invite one friend through the current in-game flow. If the invite still fails, record the exact message and platform pair before changing account links.

Separate the likely gates
| What you see | First check | Do not jump to |
|---|---|---|
| Co-op option unavailable | Host's Etuwa/Aranahe Clan quest gate | Router port changes |
| Same-platform friend cannot join | Internet, update parity, invite identity/session settings | Assuming crossplay toggle is the cause |
| Cross-platform friend cannot join | Supported platform pair and Crossplay setting | Deleting saves or unlinking Ubisoft accounts |
| Guest progress appears different | Host/guest save and campaign context in the live game | Assuming every quest state is synchronized identically |

Use community reports as clues only
A forum post may describe a version or platform pair Ubisoft no longer supports. Ask for the quest gate, platform pair, game version and non-sensitive error text. Do not publish Ubisoft IDs, email addresses or save files.

Before you play
- Record the platform, installed build, exact symptom, and last change before troubleshooting.
- Prefer reversible checks and the current official source over an old forum answer.
- Keep personal identifiers, authentication codes, and private save data out of public discussions.
