Shadows save-slot safety check

Choose an action to see the lowest-risk checks; this page does not read saves or cloud status.

Pre-action checklist

Ubisoft lists 20 manual slots. Create a new checkpoint and verify its timestamp before replacing an older slot.

Ubisoft's slot counts and platform save paths are reference facts, not a live inventory of your own save files.

Save and load cautiously

  1. From the main menu open Memories > Shadows > Save to create a manual checkpoint; verify the selected slot and time before replacing anything.
  2. To load, use Memories > Shadows > Load, highlight a slot and hold Load as Ubisoft describes.
  3. Before deleting a slot, confirm the title/platform and compare its timestamp to the current progress; deletion is separate from loading.
  4. On another platform, verify the same Ubisoft account and allow cloud sync to finish before starting or overwriting a save.
  5. If using a PC backup, follow Ubisoft's storefront-specific path and copy the stopped-game files to a separate location before repair; never edit the only copy.

Platform boundaries

Ubisoft lists distinct PC paths for Steam, Epic and Ubisoft Connect, plus a Mac container path. Console players should use platform-supported save-management guidance rather than copy PC paths. A copied file or slot count does not prove the cloud copy is valid.

Before you play

  • I selected the intended manual save slot and verified its timestamp.
  • I did not assume autosave rotation retains every checkpoint.
  • I preserved the original before moving or repairing PC files.
  • I waited for the same-account cloud sync before starting on another platform.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ubisoft's cloud upload give me 25 recoverable backups?

No. The page lists 20 manual and 5 autosave slots, and says the last saved game uploads automatically; it does not promise 25 cloud restore points.

Can I use the listed Windows folder on console?

No. Ubisoft's listed file paths are PC storefront-specific; use your console platform's official instructions.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 7, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Ubisoft Help: Managing saved games in Assassin's Creed Shadows (Official)

Ubisoft lists 20 manual and 5 autosave slots, automatic cloud upload of the last saved game, and different PC save locations by storefront. The page does not verify this player's cloud state or guarantee recovery.

  2. Ubisoft Help: Cross-progression in Assassin's Creed Shadows (Official)

Ubisoft's current page says automatic cross-progression works across platforms when using the same Ubisoft account, but store/platform-purchased DLC and pre-order content do not share between platforms. Earned in-game items listed by Ubisoft do share.

  3. Assassin's Creed Shadows player discussions (Community)

External player-generated posts, not official Ubisoft support or verified GamerWin testing. Avoid posting Ubisoft IDs, receipts, save files or personal information.

What changed in this revision
