Match the official report before changing anything
Update 2.3.0 says that in some instances losing or selling quest items—using the Equatorial Sundial needed for Clean Hands as an example—can make a quest impossible to complete. It does not say every missing item is affected, identify a restoration path, or promise that all accounts can reproduce it.
| Observed state | How it matches | Next safe step |
|---|---|---|
| Clean Hands + Sundial lost/sold + blocked objective | Exact named example in the dated known-issues list | Check current official notes, then report if still blocked |
| Clean Hands, but Sundial still held | Not the named loss/sale condition | Check the displayed objective and item location before filing |
| Different quest or item | Not established by the example | Record exact names and compare newer notes; don't generalize |
| Quest progress changed after an update | Could be another version-specific issue | Record installed build and last completed step |

Check the newer patch boundary
Embark published Hotfix 2.4.1 on November 5, after the 2.3.0 known-issue list. Its short note addresses several Xbox crashes and does not mention the Clean Hands item issue. Silence in a hotfix summary is not proof that a quest issue remains or is fixed.
- Open Embark's latest news and patch-note page for the current release, not only the October 27 entry.
- Compare the exact quest name, item, platform and installed build with the dated issue.
- If no newer status is stated, label the current status unknown rather than promising a workaround.
- Keep any relevant item or quest state intact while checking; this guide does not recommend discarding or duplicating items.

Use the local checker to prepare a report
The checker below compares only your selections with the named issue. It does not inspect the inventory, contact support or establish that a current build still contains the bug.

What to include—and what not to claim
A useful report separates what you observed from your explanation. Community discussion can reveal similar reports, but only Embark's notice establishes the named issue in this guide.
- State platform, displayed build and date/time with timezone.
- Copy the quest and item names exactly as shown in-game.
- Describe the last completed objective and whether the item is held, stored, lost or sold.
- Say whether the same result occurred again after a restart; do not invent a reproduction if it happened once.
- Do not post account credentials or claim an unverified recovery exploit. Use the game's support/community route for account-specific review.

Before you play
- Matched Clean Hands and Equatorial Sundial exactly before using the known-issue label.
- Checked official updates newer than October 27, 2026.
- Recorded platform, build, objective and item state.
- Did not assume a fix, restore path or repeated result.
Frequently asked questions
Does the note say every lost quest item breaks a quest?
No. It says some quest objectives may fail in some cases and names an example.
Can this checker restore the Sundial?
No. It uses only your selections and provides a classification/reporting path.
Is the issue definitely still live after Hotfix 2.4.1?
The 2.4.1 note does not mention it. That is not enough to claim either a fix or that it remains active.
