Treat breach and initiative as one decision
2K's FAQ describes breach point, unit choice and entry order as considerations before launching into an encounter. It separately explains that initiative alternates individual agents and enemies. Those systems make the next queued unit relevant: an entry that gives a strong opening to one agent may still leave a dangerous enemy early in the sequence.
| Visible situation | Compare before confirming | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| An enemy is high in the queue | Which agent can act before/after that threat and with what shown breach effect | That the squad gets one full team turn first |
| A breach point shows a drawback | Whether the assigned agent can still perform the role you need | That the point is always inferior |
| Multiple entry points are available | Agent order, point effect and the highest-risk enemy | That one entry point is best in every encounter |
| A particular agent is exposed/limited | Whether the plan depends on an ability or action shown as unavailable | That a previous room's plan transfers unchanged |

A repeatable pre-breach sequence
The source describes the choices; this sequence turns them into a quick inspection order without inventing a hit-chance formula.
- Scan each breach point and read its shown advantage/disadvantage.
- Assign the agent whose visible abilities and role fit the point; do not infer an unlisted modifier.
- Read the encounter initiative queue and identify the next enemy capable of causing the most immediate harm to your plan.
- Check whether agent order lets you interrupt, control or prepare for that threat using abilities actually available in your build.
- Compare the alternative point once more, then commit and reassess initiative after the encounter state changes.

Worked example: first queued enemy is the key threat
Suppose one point has a useful listed advantage for a control-capable agent, while the initiative strip shows a dangerous enemy before the next uncommitted agent. Compare that plan with a point/order that lets a different available agent act sooner. The correct choice depends on the encounter's displayed bonuses and abilities; this example does not claim which attack will hit or whether the enemy can be disabled.

Mode and platform limits
The FAQ lists Windows PC availability and describes the tactical changes for Chimera Squad. Do not apply this turn-order explanation as if it were the exact XCOM 2 rules. The external Steam forum is UGC and encounter-specific; use current UI text over copied loadout advice.

Before you play
- I read the advantage/disadvantage at each available breach point.
- I matched an agent to the point using abilities actually shown as available.
- I checked the individual initiative queue, not a presumed team turn.
- I reconsidered after the state changed.
Frequently asked questions
Do all agents act before enemies in Chimera Squad?
No. 2K describes an automatic interleaved initiative system that alternates individual agents and enemies.
Is there a universally best breach point?
The FAQ says points have different advantages and disadvantages. The best choice depends on the encounter and your agents; this guide does not rank points universally.
Does this apply to XCOM 2?
No. This guide covers Chimera Squad's breach/initiative flow and should not be transferred to XCOM 2 without checking that game's rules.
