Locate the first wrong intermediate, not the last visible machine

A wrong final shape can have been introduced far upstream. Compare the expected and actual intermediate at each platform while moving from the destination back toward the source. The first platform where the output ceases to match the intended sequence is a more useful repair target than the last machine near the Vortex.

  1. Write down the target shape code from the game UI so you are checking the same target throughout.
  2. Inspect the last connected platform before the destination and compare its output with the expected final operation.
  3. Move one platform upstream at a time. Stop at the first segment whose output shape or quadrant arrangement differs from the previous expected stage.
  4. Check machine type, orientation, input layer and whether an unrelated shape has entered the same regular belt.
  5. Correct that segment, then follow the output forward again to confirm where the result changes. If old shapes remain on belts, use the game's current documented clear-belt action carefully after selecting the relevant factory; do not clear a live production area without checking what else it feeds.

Keep shape streams legible

The developer warns that a stray shape on a shared belt can be sent down the wrong path and make later changes difficult to troubleshoot. Keep one intended shape stream per regular belt as the default. Space Belt layers are a separate transport option: the official note says distinct shapes can travel on different layers there.

Make future edits easier to undo

The developer recommends reusable platform blueprints for single operations and notes that the game's copy/paste and undo actions can reduce repetitive rebuilding. Treat a blueprint as a known-good module only if you have checked its input, output and orientation in the current save; this guide does not supply a universal blueprint.

  1. Split a long chain into operations that you can inspect independently.
  2. When one segment is known to work, save or copy it as a reusable module using the current controls.
  3. Before changing several linked platforms, use a backup/duplicate if your build supports it, or make one change at a time so Undo remains useful.
  4. Re-check the target shape after a module is reused; different inputs or layer connections can change the result.

When community discussion helps

If the result differs despite matching the shape sequence, gather a screenshot of the relevant platform and its incoming/outgoing connections, the game version and mode, and the first step where the code differs. Compare player discussions as anecdotes only, and do not copy a fix from a different build or a visually similar factory without checking the exact inputs.

Before you play

  • I recorded the requested shape code.
  • I traced backward to the first platform whose output differs.
  • I checked machine order, orientation, belt layer and unexpected mixed inputs.
  • I retested the target after making one change.

Frequently asked questions

Should I fix the machine closest to the Vortex first?

Only if the first wrong intermediate is there. Otherwise the error may originate earlier; trace from the destination backward.

Can two shapes share a belt?

The developer recommends keeping regular belts to one shape stream by default; different Space Belt layers can carry different shapes. Check sorting/wiring behavior in your current build.

Does GamerWin provide tested blueprints for this route?

No. This is an original fault-finding procedure based on the developer's general troubleshooting note; no blueprint or factory was tested.

  1. Official Shapez 2: Troubleshooting your factory (Official)

Developer-published Steam announcement dated July 9, 2026. Explains using each building's info panel for the count needed to process a full belt, tracing an incorrect shape from output backward, locating a flow change on Space Belts, avoiding mixed shapes on regular belts and using separate Space Belt layers.

  2. Official Shapez 2 Update 1.2 announcement (Official)

Developer-published Steam announcement dated August 13, 2026. Describes Update 1.2's Unity 6 move, performance/stability improvements, blueprint migration, mod support and other fixes. This guide does not infer a mechanic fix from those broad notes.

What changed in this revision

November 5, 2026: organized the developer's output-backwards troubleshooting idea into a first-bad-platform procedure and added explicit transport checks. No in-game route or blueprint was tested.
