Build a precise Railway Empire 2 troubleshooting note

Record the variables that change the correct support route. Your entries stay in this page until you choose to copy the note; they are not uploaded or saved. Never enter passwords, recovery codes, payment details, or another player's personal data.

Suggested next step

Record platform, update, scenario, signal mode, full route and destination tooltip; compare the older Academy post with current patch notes.

Read the route warning literally

The developer's Academy groups 'Problem with Route' with conditions that prevent the route from being driven and trains from being deployed. This is different from a train that is deployed but blocked, waiting for a platform, or lacking cargo. Note the exact status before changing track.

Walk the full circuit and check save mode

Kalypso describes Automatic as recommended and Manual as an experienced-player mode. The mode choice is made at new-game setup and the systems are incompatible. A layout valid for one should not be 'fixed' by placing signals from the other mode without first confirming the active save's mode.

  1. Open the affected line and record every station/waypoint in order.
  2. Trace the path from the last stop back to the first, checking a switch or gridiron wherever the return direction must change.
  3. Look for a removed segment or station that the line still references; edit the line after rebuilding the missing connection.
  4. Check directional track settings for a conflict along the route, using the controls for the save's signal mode.
  5. Inspect the minimum wagon count. If no suitable cargo is available, a positive minimum can keep the train from departing.
  6. Test one corrected line and record whether the warning changes; do not claim a route is fixed until the train deploys.

Use patches as context, not diagnosis

Kalypso's Update 1.1 notes addressed train logic and goods reaching destinations; Update 1.8 later lists warehouse and route-related fixes. These notes establish that behavior has changed over time, not that a current warning is a known bug. If the path appears valid, capture the build, signal mode, map, line, and exact warning for support or a clearly labeled community post.

Before you play

  • Exact train status recorded (invalid route vs deployed/blocked).
  • Signal mode identified from the current save.
  • Every stop and waypoint traced in both directions.
  • Switches/gridirons and track direction checked at turnarounds.
  • Removed track/stations repaired in the line definition.
  • Minimum-wagon requirement compared with available cargo.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change Automatic signals to Manual in an existing save?

Kalypso says the two modes are chosen at the start of a game and cannot be switched afterward.

Does this route warning prove a bug?

No. The developer lists several layout and configuration causes; diagnose the current route before escalating.

Does the worksheet validate my track?

No. It is a local checklist, not a map parser or route simulator.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 6, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Kalypso: Railway Empire 2 Railway Academy (Official)

Pinned developer Railway-Academy post with explanations of train-route failures and goods assigned to destinations before warehouse transit. It dates from 2023; later patches changed and fixed warehouse behavior, including Updates 1.1 and 1.8. Use it as a symptom checklist, not a claim that every old behavior remains unchanged.

  2. Kalypso: Railway Empire 2 Manual Signals Update (Official)

Publisher says Automatic and Manual signal modes are selected when starting a new game, are incompatible, and cannot be switched mid-save. Manual mode is described as intended for experienced players; check the mode shown on the affected save.

  3. Kalypso: Railway Empire 2 Update 1.8 (Official)

Publisher release notes dated October 28, 2025, listing fixes to goods stuck in manual warehouses, factory production switching and platform coverage. Not a guarantee that a similar present-day symptom is the same bug.

  4. Railway Empire 2 Steam discussions (Community)

Player-created reports and questions. Compare scenario, game build, signal mode, platform and route layout; an old thread may predate warehouse or train-logic updates. Share screenshots only after removing account or personal details.

What changed in this revision

November 6, 2026: turned Kalypso's route-error causes into a mode-aware checklist; no map, route or train was tested.
