Local capacity check

Check foundations against engine count

Uses Redbeet's published per-engine ranges: 100 foundations in the regular range, an additional 10 in the slow zone, and Collection Nets excluded. This is an arithmetic preflight, not a speed simulator.

Entered count is within the official per-engine 100-foundation range.

150 foundations ÷ 2 engines = 75 foundations per engine. Regular-range reference: up to 200; stated slow-zone reference: up to 220.

Collection Nets are excluded by Redbeet. Check the counter or count foundations—not decks or decorative blocks—and inspect each engine's on-screen indicator.

Count the quantity the rule actually uses

Redbeet's support answer is about raft foundations, not every visible building piece. It explicitly excludes Collection Nets from the foundation number. A multi-deck raft can therefore look enormous while having a much smaller counted foundation load than a player estimates from total floor area.

  1. Use the Foundation Counter if it is available in your build; Redbeet's 2022 update says it added this item.
  2. If counting manually, count foundation blocks only. Keep Collection Nets, upper floors, walls and decorations out of the total unless the game counter says otherwise.
  3. Write down the number shown by the raft or count, and the number of installed engines.
  4. Compare your case to the official support chart and check each engine's own foundation indicator before changing the layout.

Read the local check as two thresholds

The checker divides the foundation count by engines and displays the regular 100-per-engine reference and the additional 10-per-engine slow-zone arithmetic described by Redbeet. It deliberately does not derive a precise raft speed from the article's chart. That chart is the source for speed combinations, and your in-game engine display remains an important cross-check.

Separate load from direction, fuel and speed expectations

A capacity result does not diagnose a reversed engine, an engine that is off, or a fuel problem. The Final Chapter introduced Engine Controls that can switch and direct the engines together, but a control setting still needs to match the direction you want. Nor does an extra sail fix an engine capacity issue: Redbeet's support page says multiple sails do not increase speed.

  1. Confirm the engines are on and their direction is consistent with the intended travel.
  2. Check fuel and each engine's on-device indicator.
  3. Use the published support chart for speed cases rather than interpreting the checker label as an exact speed.
  4. Do not add sails expecting speed; use engine or paddle controls when the raft needs propulsion.

Report a reproducible raft movement issue

The same symptom can come from counted foundations, a slow-zone load, engine state or the selected direction. A report is more useful when those details are separated; other players' Steam posts are leads, not verified fixes.

  1. Include the game build, platform, solo/co-op and mod state.
  2. Record the Foundation Counter value or explain how you counted; identify whether collection nets were excluded.
  3. List engine count, each engine's display/indicator, fuel and Engine Controls direction.
  4. Describe what changed after one adjustment, and include a screenshot only if it removes private names or world details.

Before you play

  • Count foundations, excluding Collection Nets.
  • Use 100 per engine as the regular reference and 110 as the documented slow-zone boundary per engine.
  • Consult Redbeet's speed chart for exact speed cases.
  • Check fuel, engine state and direction before treating a low-speed symptom as a capacity problem.

Frequently asked questions

Do collection nets count toward engine capacity?

Redbeet's official support article says Collection Nets do not count in the foundation number.

Will a second sail make the raft faster?

No. Redbeet's support answer says extra sails do not increase speed; it points to paddling or engines instead.

Does the calculator know my raft speed?

No. It checks two per-engine foundation thresholds only. It does not read the raft or reproduce the official speed table.

  1. Redbeet Interactive: Do multiple engines make the raft faster? (Official)

Redbeet support article checked November 5, 2026. It documents the 100-foundation regular range, an additional 10-foundation slow zone, engine speed behavior, raft speed bounds, and that Collection Nets do not count. Use its chart and each engine's current display for exact cases; this guide does not recreate the full speed chart.

  2. Redbeet Interactive: Will more than one sail make my raft go faster? (Official)

Official support answer checked November 5, 2026: adding sails does not increase raft speed; paddles or engines are the alternative mentioned. Does not certify every later modded setup.

What changed in this revision

November 5, 2026: added a source-linked foundation-load diagnostic and local threshold checker; no raft or engine was tested in game.
