Diagnose the blocker before another gathering trip
A blank or unavailable recipe, a named ingredient shortage and a failed cauldron input are different problems. This sequence uses visible UI evidence and does not assert hidden drop rates or unlock conditions.
- Write down the exact potion name or request text associated with the current patient/quest.
- Open the cauldron/recipe interface and check whether the recipe is visible, locked, or selectable; copy the message shown if it is not.
- If the recipe is selectable, inspect its ingredient slots and count what you actually have in inventory. Mark each item as present, short or unknown.
- For a missing item, use the item's own description/map or the game's currently available gathering area to plan one targeted trip; do not infer a universal location from an old post.
- Return to the cauldron and verify the recipe/output before leaving; then confirm the item is available for the clinic interaction.
- If a recipe remains unavailable despite a visible patient need, record platform/build, quest stage and exact screen text and compare with the latest official patch notes before spending more in-game days.
| Visible state | Classify as | Evidence to gather |
|---|---|---|
| Recipe not listed or locked | Recipe/progression question | Exact message, quest stage, platform/build |
| Recipe selectable, one slot short | Ingredient shortage | Item name and inventory count |
| All slots filled but brew fails | Interaction/input question | Control prompt and current cauldron state |
| Potion brewed but patient rejects it | Treatment mismatch | Exact patient response and item name |
