Identify platform and save path before changing files
Bethesda lists the default Windows path under Documents/My Games and a separate OneDrive path. Its support article also gives a distinct Steam Deck network/OS check. Do not apply a Windows path or instruction to Xbox/PlayStation.
| Setup | Official first check | Safety boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC, default Documents | Compare current path with C:\Users\…\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames | Do not move or overwrite a save without a backup |
| Windows PC with OneDrive | Check the OneDrive Documents save location named by Bethesda | Do not assume both folders contain the same newest file |
| Steam Deck | Stable connection, latest SteamOS, then restart | Bethesda does not say to copy Windows paths to Deck |
| Console | Use platform-specific Bethesda/console support | This PC article is not console guidance |

Stage a reversible sync report
Bethesda describes the moved-folder explanation as a possible cause while it investigates sync issues. Preserve the last known good copy and avoid launching multiple devices at once if you cannot tell which copy is newest.
- Record platform, storefront, Windows/SteamOS version and last time the correct save appeared.
- Close the game cleanly and copy the save folder to a separate backup location before troubleshooting.
- On Windows, compare the Documents folder location with the default and OneDrive paths in Bethesda's current article.
- On Steam Deck, test connectivity and update SteamOS before restarting as Bethesda directs.
- Retry sync only after recording which device has the latest confirmed progress; stop if the platform presents a conflict choice you do not understand.
- Contact official support with the exact device/path symptoms; redact Windows username and never post saves publicly.

Can I delete a conflicting cloud save?
This guide does not recommend deletion; keep a separate copy and use platform/Bethesda support if the conflict prompt is unclear.
Does this apply to Xbox or PlayStation?
No. The cited sync article covers Windows and a separate Steam Deck note.
