Identify the actual installed generation
- Check whether the console is PS4, PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, and read the full title/version shown by the platform library.
- If launching on PS4/Xbox One, note Crytek's August 15, 2024 sunset: the old-generation online service is no longer the supported online client.
- On PS5/Xbox Series, check the same-family upgrade entitlement and install the current 1896 release from the platform library.
- Verify the account/store profile that owned the prior title and purchases before contacting support; do not assume cross-family or PC migration.
- If the supported client still fails after update, then check current service notices and platform connectivity before changing network settings.

What the transition notice does and does not promise
| Starting point | Publisher notice establishes | Not established by that notice |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 | Same-family next-gen upgrade path and eligible past purchases/progress | A PS4 client remains online or progress moves to Xbox/PC |
| Xbox One | Same-family Xbox Series upgrade path | Cross-family transfer or ownership across Microsoft accounts |
| PC | The game is a distinct supported release | Console upgrade entitlement applies to PC |
| New player | Current release platform options | A legacy save exists to transfer |

Player discussion is not a migration record
Community posts can help identify a missing library entitlement or a similar platform prompt, but they cannot inspect the purchaser's platform account. Ask which generation and title are installed; never post account email, order ID, or full console serial publicly.

Before you play
- Record the platform, installed build, exact symptom, and last change before troubleshooting.
- Prefer reversible checks and the current official source over an old forum answer.
- Keep personal identifiers, authentication codes, and private save data out of public discussions.
