Decide whether you mean a map, a region, or Central Tyria World Completion
Guild Wars 2 uses similar language for different scopes. A single zone/map has its own completion indicators. Central Tyria World Completion is the larger original-world task associated with its own achievement and character reward. Expansion regions can have their own maps, achievements, or reward tracks, but filling an expansion map is not a substitute for the Central Tyria world-completion requirement. ArenaNet's overview describes the original-world reward; the community-edited wiki provides a more detailed scope list.
| Your goal | What to track | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Finish this map | The objective categories remaining in this map's legend | That every revealed patch of terrain is a completion objective |
| Central Tyria World Completion | Required Central Tyria maps plus the relevant achievement/reward on the character | That an expansion map contributes to the original-world checklist |
| Explore an expansion map | That map's own visible completion/achievement goal | That it advances Central Tyria World Completion |

Use the in-game legend to choose the next objective
The map legend is more reliable than following a generic route written for a different account state. ArenaNet's overview identifies map icons as the route to zone completion; the ArenaNet-hosted but volunteer-edited wiki describes the legend's remaining objective counts and categories. Hover or select a missing category in your current client and let the map identify the visible targets before you travel.
- Open the map for the exact zone you are in and inspect its completion legend.
- Write down only the categories still incomplete—commonly waypoints, points of interest, vistas, renown hearts, and hero challenges.
- Choose a nearby cluster of revealed targets in one category, or combine objectives along the same route when the map makes that practical.
- After each cluster, reopen the legend and update the checklist; do not rely on a saved route or third-party map overlay as proof of account progress.

Make the route resilient to events, access limits, and map changes
A fixed shortest route is not universal: an event, a locked/story-gated route, traversal unlocks, group challenge, or later-added map objective can change the next sensible stop. The planner deliberately asks you to record a region and outstanding categories rather than claim objective coordinates or route efficiency. If a marker is unavailable, record the barrier and return after you meet the in-game condition instead of repeatedly crossing the map.
- Start with an objective you can reach now; if a heart or challenge depends on an event or other condition, mark it as blocked rather than treating it as forgotten.
- When a nearby waypoint or point of interest is already accessible, collect it before making a long detour, if it does not disrupt the goal.
- Use a different session for a blocked objective, then recheck the map legend because completion state may have changed.
- If the objective does not appear as expected, verify the exact map and goal; consult the current wiki page as a community reference, then confirm in-game.

Worked example: one expansion map versus a Central Tyria gift goal
Suppose you have one remaining vista on an expansion map and several incomplete Central Tyria zones. If today's aim is simply to finish that expansion map, select the expansion-map goal and clear its displayed remaining categories. If the reason you are exploring is Central Tyria World Completion, keep the expansion vista as an optional side task and continue the original-world checklist instead. The planner helps keep those work queues separate; it cannot confirm a Gift of Exploration or an achievement on your account.
| Situation | Choose | Verify when done |
|---|---|---|
| One expansion map nearly complete | Single-map / expansion-map goal | That map's own completion indicators |
| Working toward an original-world character reward | Central Tyria World Completion | The character's current achievement/reward state and required maps |
| Unclear which requirement an item/achievement uses | Pause route planning | Read the current achievement tooltip or official game page before detouring |

Before you play
- I chose single-map completion, expansion exploration, or Central Tyria World Completion before routing.
- I checked the current in-game map legend rather than guessing which objective remains.
- I separated inaccessible/event-dependent objectives from objectives I simply have not visited.
- I will verify the achievement/reward in the current character UI; this page cannot inspect it.
Frequently asked questions
Does 100% completion of an expansion map count as Central Tyria World Completion?
No. These are distinct scopes. Use the current Central Tyria achievement/reward checklist for the original-world goal.
Do I need to reveal every patch of terrain for map completion?
Not necessarily. The map objectives and regional exploration achievements are distinct concepts; use the current map legend for map completion and the relevant Explorer achievement if your goal is full exploration.
Can this planner calculate the fastest route or read my account?
No. It only turns your inputs into a manual checklist. It has no API connection, account access, map-coordinate solver, or saved state.
