Use the supported account boundary
Cloud save support is not a general publisher-account migration. Square Enix's article explicitly separates Steam and Epic account families; follow the currently linked support topic if your case involves reinstalling or launching while offline.
| Move | What the cited article says | Safe next check |
|---|---|---|
| Steam device to Steam device | Same Steam account is supported | Confirm the old device synced and the new device uses that account |
| Epic device to Epic device | Same Epic Games account is supported | Confirm the old device synced and the new device uses that account |
| Steam to Epic or Epic to Steam | Not promised by this cloud-save article | Do not delete the old install; ask Square Enix support about the exact case |
| PS5 to PC | Not covered by the PC storefront cloud-save answer | Use PlayStation and publisher support for platform-specific transfer policy |

Protect the old save before troubleshooting
A cloud icon or reinstall alone does not prove which copy is current. Keep the device with the latest known progress unchanged until the storefront reports synchronization complete.
- Record platform, store (Steam/Epic/PS5), account used and last session with confirmed progress.
- On the original device, connect to the internet and allow its platform cloud sync to finish before closing or uninstalling.
- On the destination, sign into the same supported storefront account; do not expect cross-store movement.
- If launching offline after reinstall, consult the exact Square Enix support article for that scenario before editing files.
- If progress is missing, stop before starting a new save that could create another cloud copy; capture the displayed date/build and contact official support.
- Ask other players only for comparable platform/storefront cases and do not expose account email or save files publicly.
