Compare your inputs with published host guidance

Dedicated-server capacity check

Enter the host resources you can actually reserve. Official CPU/RAM guidance dates to early access, so results are a reference comparison—not a 1.0 performance guarantee, benchmark or hosting recommendation.

Comparison: 4-6 player reference

  • At or above: 6 CPU cores at approximately 3.2 GHz (published comparison, not exact-equivalence test)
  • At or above: 16 GB RAM published reference
  • At or above: 30 GB free SSD installation space published reference
  • At or above: 12 Mbps upload at 2 Mbps per active player

Upload headroom: 0.0 Mbps against the entered player count. Extra saved-world allowance: up to 0 MB beyond the first world, using the official FAQ's approximate figure.

Example: for 5 active players, the published 2 Mbps-per-player network reference implies 10 Mbps upload. This arithmetic does not account for other household traffic, packet loss, latency, world complexity or 1.0-specific resource changes.

All values stay in this browser page and reset on reload; no save, IP or server configuration is read or uploaded.

Prove the host is online before changing discovery settings

A blank browser does not prove the server failed to start. Keen Games' server FAQ gives an online-state transition in the server window/log as a typical startup indicator. Check that the process is still running and has completed startup before adjusting the client filter. If the provider dashboard reports a restart loop or the host never reaches its online state, solve that server-side failure first.

The legacy official FAQ says the game browser can contain both dedicated and peer-to-peer sessions, and that dedicated-server listings have a separate Show dedicated server filter. Treat these as two different session types; a friend invite may help a peer-to-peer world but does not diagnose a dedicated host's query path.

  1. On the host, confirm the dedicated server process remains open and its log reaches the documented Host_Online state; note any startup error before editing the JSON.
  2. In Enshrouded, choose Join and enable Show dedicated server. Temporarily clear name, password, friends-only, empty-server and free-slot filters, then search again.
  3. If the host uses a custom query port, read the value from the JSON generated by that installed server rather than assuming the documented default of 15637.
  4. If the list remains empty, open Steam → View → Game Servers → Favorites, add the host's reachable IP and query port separated by a colon, and check the Favorites tab. Use the host/provider's current instructions to identify the address that friends can reach.
  5. Keep passwords, allow-lists and role permissions intact. If direct favorite connection fails, record the exact error and ask the host to verify its firewall/provider port mapping; do not expose a private address or disable the firewall as a blind test.
  6. Record whether the issue is listing, timeout, authentication or world loading. Those are separate symptoms and need different evidence.

Choose the next check from the symptom

A server that is online but absent from search points first to the client filter or query route. A server that appears but times out has passed discovery; investigate reachability and the host/provider's port setup. A server that accepts the connection and then rejects a password is not a list-visibility issue. Keep one observation per row so a host can reproduce it without changing several controls at once.

Make a useful report without publishing secrets

A correction or support report should state Enshrouded client and server builds, Windows host or provider, whether the dedicated filter was enabled, whether the server reached Host_Online, the configured query port, and the exact stage at which joining failed. Do not post passwords, public IPs, account IDs or raw configuration files on a public board.

These steps are based on official support documentation and are not a GamerWin-hosted server test. The linked community board contains player posts that may be outdated or specific to one provider.

Client build:
Dedicated-server build / platform:
Host reaches Host_Online?
Dedicated-server filter enabled?
Other browser filters cleared?
Query port (share privately with host only):
Failure stage: absent / timeout / password / world load
Provider or firewall change since last success:
Personal identifiers removed?

Match the fix to the stage that failed

Before repeating a join attempt, compare the client and dedicated-server build labels and ask whether the host provider rolled or restarted the server. Then repeat only the failing stage: search after a filter change, connect after a private Favorites entry, or authenticate after confirming the password. This one-variable sequence gives the host a stronger report than changing the port, firewall, password and role settings at once.

If a public discussion offers a workaround, check its date, host platform and server build first. The community board is a source of leads, not proof that a post applies to the current 1.0 release.

  1. Record client and server build labels.
  2. Change one discovery or connection variable per attempt.
  3. Keep the host's access policy unchanged while checking discovery.
  4. Use the official support channel/provider if the documented path fails.

Before you play

  • Confirm the dedicated host is online before troubleshooting the browser.
  • Enable the dedicated-server filter; temporarily clear other filters.
  • Read the query port from the installed server's generated config.
  • Use Steam Favorites with the reachable IP:query-port if the game list remains empty.
  • Keep passwords and firewall protections; report discovery, timeout and admission as separate symptoms.

Frequently asked questions

Does an empty Enshrouded server list mean my server is offline?

No. First verify the host reached its online state, then enable the dedicated-server browser filter and clear other filters. The official FAQ documents a Steam Favorites fallback using the host IP and query port.

What query port should I use?

The older official FAQ lists 15637 as the default, but it may be changed. Read the installed server's generated configuration and provider mapping.

Should I turn off the password or firewall?

No. Visibility and access control are separate; keep them enabled and ask the host/provider to validate the intended reachable address and port mapping.

Was this tested on an Enshrouded 1.0 server?

No. It is an official-document-based checklist. The cited FAQ and configuration pages predate 1.0, so verify current labels and provider instructions.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 5, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Official Dedicated Server FAQ (Official)

Keen Games support article, updated February 21, 2025. It distinguishes server-side world progress from client-side character progress, gives browser filter and Steam Favorites steps, and lists default query port 15637. These legacy support instructions are not a guarantee that every 1.0 host or provider uses unchanged paths/settings.

  2. Official Save Game Management (Official)

Keen Games article updated April 23, 2026. It documents local/Cloud save access and dedicated-server save locations, world index files, and rolling world copies. Its stated rolling-copy cadence differs from the older server FAQ's save interval; this guide flags that discrepancy and advises making an explicit stopped-server copy.

  3. Official Dedicated Server Configuration (Official)

Keen Games support article, last updated February 21, 2025. It identifies the generated Windows server JSON, default save/log directories and allowed 1–16 slot setting. Read the file generated by your installed 1.0 server before applying older examples.

  4. Official Recommended Server Specifications (Official)

Keen Games recommendation dated January 12, 2024: 6-core/3.2-GHz CPU for 4–6 active players, 8-core/3.7-GHz for 16, 16 GB RAM, 30 GB free SSD and 2 Mbps upload per player. This predates full release and is a comparison reference, not a 1.0 benchmark or guarantee.

  5. Enshrouded 1.0 release notes (Official)

Keen Games' October 15, 2026 release changelog provides the 1.0 launch context. It does not certify that older hosting articles or hardware recommendations were revalidated for 1.0.

  6. Enshrouded Steam community discussions (Community)

Player discussion board checked November 5, 2026. Linked for readers to compare reports and ask other players; individual posts are not verified facts or GamerWin tests.

What changed in this revision

First publication: separated server process state, browser filtering, Steam Favorites discovery, connection timeout and admission errors. Added a local comparison tool for dated publisher hardware references; no live host was tested.
