Check the story gate on every participant's save

Techland says co-op unlocks after completing the prologue up to the Markers of Plague quest. A host who has unlocked co-op does not establish that a joining player's save has passed the same gate.

  1. Each player checks their own active save and confirms Markers of Plague is completed, not merely visible in the journal.
  2. Confirm the co-op/online option is available in the current menu for that save.
  3. Compare the local date and time on all PCs/consoles as Techland asks; use automatic time synchronization when available.
  4. Only after those checks, retry with the platform pair and current cross-play limits in the next section.

Match the platforms before chasing network fixes

The publisher's compatibility article describes specific supported pairs. Cross-generation does not mean arbitrary cross-platform. The article is older, so recheck Techland's current support feed if the platforms or edition have changed.

If a supported pair still fails, report a reproducible attempt

Techland requests the host and peer quest/map context, friends-list size, internet context and—in a disconnection case—session duration, activity and party size. This guide turns those questions into a compact diagnosis rather than claiming to measure anyone's network.

  1. Record host and peer platform/storefront, build, active quest and approximate map location.
  2. Write whether the failure occurs while searching, joining or after playing; note party size and elapsed time.
  3. Record the exact connection message and whether date/time was synchronized.
  4. Ask the community only after confirming a supported pair; label any answer as player experience and use Techland support for authoritative troubleshooting.
  5. Do not share account IDs, IP addresses, passwords, recovery codes or private save files in a public thread.
