Make a route decision from the map you can see
The official notes describe route indicators and a seed-related fix, not a universal count for every Boss Cell level. Treat the live map as the decision surface and the patch note as scope context.
- Record the displayed game version and active Boss Cell setting before comparing a run with an older post.
- On the map, inspect each available exit. The official note says a skull icon marks a cursed biome; choose a non-skull exit if you want to avoid entering one and that exit is accessible.
- Do not expect the cursed-biome counter to decrease merely by viewing or passing a map node; the note says it counts down when entering a cursed biome.
- If the displayed count stays at zero, compare the installed build with Update 35.7, which fixed the number always being zero on some seeds. It does not say every zero display is that bug.
- If no non-cursed exit appears, capture the current map, Boss Cell setting and version before asking for help; the documented rule says not all accessible exits can be cursed, but excludes some biomes and boss levels from being cursed.
| What you see | Check next | Do not conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Skull on an exit | That destination is marked cursed | Every route is cursed |
| Counter does not change on map | Whether you entered a cursed biome | The counter should count down just by moving the map cursor |
| Count reads zero | Build and Update 35.7 note | Every zero display is a seed bug |
| No safe-looking route | Which exits are actually accessible and current Boss Cell level | A forced cursed route without recording the map |

Turn a seed report into usable evidence
The local worksheet only drafts a report from your entries. It cannot inspect a seed, save or map.
- Include game version, Boss Cell level and whether custom/assist options are active.
- Describe the map exits and skulls visible before entering a biome.
- State whether you entered a cursed biome and how the displayed number changed.
- Ask in external player discussions only after separating those observations from a suspected bug.

Before you play
- I recorded the displayed platform, mode and game build.
- I separated an on-screen observation from my theory about its cause.
- I checked the linked official source for the mechanic or setting.
- I removed account details and private save data from anything I plan to share.
Frequently asked questions
Does zero mean I must take a cursed path?
Not by itself. Check available exits and build; the official notes say a non-cursed route remains possible, and Update 35.7 fixed an always-zero count on some seeds.
When does the count decrease?
Motion Twin's notes say it counts down when you enter a cursed biome, not merely when an exit is highlighted.
Does this guide calculate my seed?
No. It organizes observations you enter; it has no seed or save access.

- Motion Twin: Dead Cells official patch notes (Official)
Official patch history checked November 7, 2026. Updates 35.0–35.2 document cursed exits, Boss Cell-dependent limits and countdown behavior; Update 35.7 fixes the number of cursed biomes always showing zero on some seeds. Update 35.9 separately documents a Custom Mode null-access crash. These entries do not diagnose an individual run. No run was played.
