Linking and syncing are not a reversible trial
BHVR distinguishes linking a platform account to a Behaviour Account from syncing Dead by Daylight progress across linked accounts. Its FAQ says a linked provider account cannot be swapped for a different one, and synced platforms cannot be unsynced. Treat account selection as a deliberate commitment, not a harmless setup step.
| Question | What the FAQ says | Practical action |
|---|---|---|
| Can I sync two Steam accounts? | No: one account per platform; the FAQ example allows Steam + Epic + Xbox, not two Steam accounts. | Confirm which Steam login owns the progress you want before linking. |
| Can I change the linked provider account later? | The FAQ says a linked account cannot be unlinked and replaced with another provider account. | Stop if the portal shows an unexpected account. |
| Can Support unsync after activation? | BHVR says platforms cannot be unsynced and Support cannot bypass the restriction. | Do not click Sync until the account set is correct. |

Choose the account set, not just the target device
The FAQ lists Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. A platform appearing in that list does not guarantee your specific local account is the one currently selected in the Behaviour portal.
- Write down the exact provider account on each platform that has Dead by Daylight progress.
- Keep at most one account for each platform provider in the intended sync group; do not select a second Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account as though it were another platform.
- Launch each game copy after updating it. BHVR recommends the latest version before enabling sync and calls this mandatory for Nintendo Switch.
- Open Behaviour Account connections and verify the displayed platform account identity before linking it.
- Review the account irreversibility note and the Switch currency/DLC exception, then make your own choice in the official portal.

If a Nintendo Switch account is part of the plan
Switch is not simply another copy of the shared wallet. BHVR says Auric Cells remain on the Switch account, DLC can share from other platforms to Switch but not outward from Switch, and Nintendo eShop DLC is the exception when sharing Switch store purchases. Keep that direction in the checklist rather than assuming every purchase travels both ways.
| Item | FAQ direction or behavior | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Auric Cells | Switch Auric Cells remain on Switch; non-Switch Auric Cells form the shared wallet. | One unified Auric Cell balance across Switch and every other platform. |
| DLC | Other platforms can share DLC to Switch; Switch DLC does not share to other platforms. | A Nintendo eShop DLC purchase unlocks the same DLC everywhere. |
| Achievements/settings | Achievements remain platform-specific; settings are not included in Behaviour sync. | A synced inventory means console trophies or video/settings profiles copy too. |

A safe stop/go rule
If any account identity, ownership, platform family, or Switch exception is unclear, stop at the official account page and resolve that item before activating Sync. The local preflight only restates your selected labels; it cannot see your Behaviour Account.
- Go only when the account identities are confirmed, the game copies have been updated/launched, and you have accepted the irreversible account rules.
- Pause if the same platform provider appears twice, the portal displays an account you do not recognize, or you expect Switch Auric Cells or Nintendo eShop DLC to move outward.
- After a completed sync, verify each platform in-game and check the official FAQ if a particular currency, DLC, achievement, setting, or cosmetic differs.

Where to ask and how to contribute a real report
Behaviour announced that its official forums would close at the end of October 2026 and directed players toward Discord, Steam Discussions, and the DBD subreddit. This hub links the active Steam discussion board as a player-run destination, not as an official support queue. Keep account identifiers and purchase receipts private.
