Coral Island save-slot and recovery planner

Local checklist only; your entries remain in this browser tab. It cannot inspect, upload, back up or restore a save.

Next safe check: Before quitting, verify the selected character and visible save entry. The 1.3 notes list autosaves on building/mines/dive transitions, before and after festivals, before cutscenes and on teleport (60-second cooldown); this does not prove your session saved.

A character slot is not one save file

The 1.3 notes describe a character-slot list and allow up to 8 manual saves per character slot. They also say existing save files transfer automatically, and players with more than 10 existing saves keep them but cannot create new character slots until below the limit. Do not delete an old character merely to make room without first identifying what it contains.

What you seeDocumented limit or behaviorSafe interpretation
Character slotUp to 10 slots; older saves transfer automaticallyA slot groups a character's save history; it is not the same count as manual saves
Manual save entriesUp to 8 per character slotUse a distinct entry as a rollback point; confirm the selected character first
More than 10 existing savesExisting saves remain; new character slots are blocked until under 10Do not infer that the game deleted overflow saves
Multiplayer saveNew save system is single-player onlyDo not assume solo manual-save controls protect a co-op farm

Use the save list as a deliberate rollback routine

A manual save is useful before a high-consequence choice or a session-ending test, but the release notes do not promise cloud backup, cross-platform transfer or immunity from corruption. The sequence below preserves a recognizable recovery point without claiming the site can access or restore it.

  1. Open the Escape menu and choose Load Game to review the character and existing entries before changing anything.
  2. Rename or label the target entry where the game offers that option, so the intended character and point-in-time are distinguishable.
  3. In single-player, create a manual save before a major decision or troubleshooting step. Check that the displayed character/slot is the one you mean to preserve.
  4. After the save completes, return to the list and verify the new entry is visible. Do not treat a button press or autosave icon as proof that an external/cloud copy exists.
  5. If troubleshooting a failure, keep the last known-good entry and test by loading a separate point when possible; never overwrite the only recoverable entry while the cause is unknown.

Know when autosave is expected—and when it is not

The 1.3 notes list entering a building, mines or dive sites; before and after a Festival; before a cutscene; and teleporting as autosave triggers. A 60-second cooldown applies and autosave can be toggled in Settings. That is a list of documented triggers, not a real-time guarantee that every action has just been recorded.

SituationWhat the notes sayPractical next step
Entered a building, mine or dive siteAn autosave trigger is listedAllow the transition to finish; check the save list before quitting if progress matters
Festival or cutsceneAutosave is listed before/after festivals and before a cutsceneDo not assume the middle of an event is a manual checkpoint
Just teleportedTeleporting is listed; autosaves have a 60-second cooldownIf the cooldown may apply, make a manual save in solo before closing
Co-op sessionNew save system is single-player onlyUse the host/platform's current multiplayer save behavior; these solo instructions do not establish co-op backup behavior

Use the local save-plan checker

The checker below asks whether you are in solo or multiplayer and how many slots/saves you already see. It can flag when your entered count reaches the published limits and remind you of documented autosave events. It cannot inspect the save list, confirm a successful save, sync a cloud copy, or recover a missing file.

Before you play

  • Separate character slots from manual save entries; the documented caps are 10 characters and 8 manual saves per character.
  • Use manual-save steps only for single-player; the 1.3 notes say the new save system is solo-only.
  • Verify the selected character and visible new entry before quitting or overwriting.
  • Treat autosave triggers and the 60-second cooldown as documented behavior, not proof a particular action was saved.
  • Keep the last known-good entry; this guide/tool cannot read or restore a save.

Frequently asked questions

Can I manually save during multiplayer?

The official 1.3 notes say the new save system is single-player only. Do not infer that its manual save works in co-op.

Are the 10 character slots and 8 manual saves the same limit?

No. The notes describe up to 10 character slots and up to 8 manual saves per character slot.

Does this checker confirm my game saved?

No. It only compares numbers you enter and shows reminders; it cannot see your save list, files or cloud sync.
