Browser-local strategy worksheet

Battle Brothers version-aware question builder

Organize the origin, build, DLC, Steam branch, or mods before comparing a guide or asking other players.

This worksheet only uses fields entered in this page tab; it does not read a save, game client, PC, account, logs, or Steam branch and submits nothing. Entries clear on reload. External community posts are user-generated and unverified; remove usernames, credentials, private save data, receipts, and personal file paths before sharing.

Protect the save, then identify the build

The developer's notes describe a targeted fix. The safe response is to verify version and preserve data before diagnosing, not to overwrite a campaign or assume the issue is solved.

  1. Record the exact version shown by Steam and whether the game is running the default branch.
  2. List mods and versions; note whether the problem started after adding/updating one or many.
  3. Copy the campaign save to a separate backup before additional launches that might write to it.
  4. Compare with the official 1.5.1.8 note: it mentions more than 2 GB RAM support for crashes, rainbow sprites and corrupted saves when many mods are used.
  5. Update through the normal client only if desired, then test on a copy/low-risk campaign; do not promise that updating repairs existing corruption.
  6. If still failing, record the first reproducible action and current build and use official support/community channels without sharing personal paths or private data.

Prepare a useful crash report

A narrow report avoids false certainty and helps other players compare patch context.

  1. Include build, OS/store, DLC and mod versions.
  2. Describe the first failing action and visible error/symptom.
  3. Say whether the issue occurs with a backed-up clean test, only if you have safely confirmed it.
  4. Do not attach an unredacted save, account data or personal file path to a public post.

Before you play

  • I preserved a separate copy before more launches.
  • I recorded exact version and mod count/list.
  • I limited the 1.5.1.8 claim to the documented many-mod symptoms.
  • I did not claim the save was repaired.

Frequently asked questions

Does 1.5.1.8 fix every corrupted save?

No. The note describes support beyond 2 GB to avoid specified issues when many mods are used; it is not a save-repair tool.

Should I roll back for mod compatibility?

Only after checking the official branch instructions and protecting the save; rollback can change compatibility and is not an automatic fix.

Can this page inspect my RAM, mods or save?

No. It only guides information you can check yourself.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 7, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Battle Brothers — official Steam announcements (Official)

Overhype Studios / Hooded Horse announcements. Recent 1.5.2.x notes describe content changes and fixes; the 1.5.1.8 note documents extended RAM support, and older notes document beta rollback. Confirm the exact installed version; no company was tested.

What changed in this revision

November 7, 2026: first publication; bounded the RAM claim to the developer's 1.5.1.8 note and added stop-before-overwrite guidance.
