Balatro · reader-entered run planning

Blind gap and fallback hand planner

Use only numbers and the active restriction shown in your own run. This tool does not simulate Jokers, deck composition, probability, card scoring, or the current game version.

1,800 points remain · about 900 per remaining hand

Your entered conservative estimate meets this simple arithmetic threshold; it does not prove that a hand is available or legal.

Restriction: No active restriction entered. · Primary: not entered · Fallback: not entered

All calculations run in this page. Values are not saved, uploaded, or compared against a Joker database. Check Run Info and the live blind text; never let arithmetic override the game's scoring result.

Start from the current blind, not a remembered run

Balatro's official FAQ describes a small blind, big blind, and Boss Blind in each Ante, with the Boss Blind imposing a restriction. The target and restriction belong to the live run. Do not reuse a target from another stake, deck, challenge, seed, or update.

  1. Read the current blind's target and note the score already earned.
  2. Check the remaining hands from the in-game counter; do not count discards as scoring hands.
  3. Read the Boss Blind text before deciding that a remembered hand is legal.
  4. Open Run Info if you need the game's hand list; the developer FAQ points players to that menu.

Compute the minimum average and add a margin

The basic division is a planning threshold, not a probability prediction: remaining target divided by scoring hands left. For an illustrative target gap of 1,800 with two hands remaining, the arithmetic threshold is 900 per hand. If your entered conservative score estimate is only 900, you have no buffer for a weak draw or an active restriction. Use a margin that fits the real hand previews and current resources.

Use a conservative estimate that includes the active restriction

Do not feed the tool your best theoretical hand if the Boss Blind blocks it, your deck cannot assemble it, or a Joker effect depends on a condition you have not met. Use the score preview or an observed legal hand under the same current setup, then lower the estimate if the next draw, order, or restriction is uncertain. This keeps the planner useful without claiming to forecast random cards.

  1. Enter only a hand type or scoring line that the live Boss Blind permits.
  2. Use a score estimate from the current deck/Jokers and current hand preview, not a guide's generic value.
  3. If the tool says the estimate reaches the threshold, treat that as a conditional arithmetic result only.
  4. If it falls short, reconsider the live hand/discard/shop choices using the actual game text; the planner never chooses a Joker for you.

Worked check and limits

Example: score is 1,200 of a 3,000 target with two hands left, leaving a gap of 1,800 and a 900-point average. A conservative estimate of 1,100 clears the arithmetic check, but a restriction could make the hand illegal or the actual result smaller. The right decision still depends on the in-game hand preview and active effect.

Before you play

  • I read the current blind target and score rather than using an older screenshot.
  • I counted only scoring hands still available.
  • My estimate is a conservative legal hand under the active restriction.
  • I left a buffer for draw and Joker uncertainty.
  • I treated the calculator result as arithmetic—not a run-success prediction.

Frequently asked questions

Does this planner tell me which hand to play?

No. It only divides the score gap by hands remaining and compares your own estimate. Use the active blind, Run Info and live hand preview.

Does it simulate Jokers or deck draws?

No. It has no deck, seed, Joker database or game connection.

Is reaching the average enough to guarantee success?

No. The average assumes each remaining hand scores at least that amount; actual draws and restrictions can break that assumption.
