Manta Update vs Silver Seas Access Check

Answer from your own launcher and storefront. This makes no network request, reads no save or account, and cannot verify a license.

Resolve the access checks separately

Cartel is the information/manipulation and smuggling-route direction described by the publisher; choose it if that theme matches your intended campaign.

  1. Update Age of Wonders 4 from the storefront for your selected platform, restart it, then confirm the installed build. The Manta Update is described by Paradox as available to all players.
  2. Check the account's owned add-ons or Expansion Pass 4 entitlement in the same platform storefront used to launch the game.
  3. Confirm the game and add-on are attached to the same platform account you use to launch the game; the dated free-play notice named Steam and Xbox, not every storefront.

Nothing is saved or sent; selections reset on reload. The result is a checklist, not proof of ownership, current platform release status, multiplayer compatibility, or faction strength.

Separate patch, expansion and promotion

Paradox's November 3 release notice makes a useful distinction: Manta is an update for all Age of Wonders 4 players, with water-gameplay changes, a new trade system, Form Traits and fixes/balance work; The Silver Seas is a new expansion with Mercantile culture, aquatic forms, tomes and world-map content. The product page describes the expansion separately from Expansion Pass 4. Do not infer a DLC license from seeing the patch download or a new menu entry.

The same dated notice says a free-play weekend begins November 5 on Steam and Xbox. That is a temporary promotion as described in that notice, not a permanent license promise, and it does not name PlayStation for the event. Check the current platform event/store page before planning around it.

Run the storefront check in a safe order

Use the platform that actually launches your game. The official launch notice names PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for The Silver Seas; it separately names Steam and Xbox for its free-play weekend. Storefront and account entitlements are the practical source of truth for your copy, not a guide or another player's screenshot.

  1. Write down the platform and account used to launch Age of Wonders 4.
  2. Update and restart the base game. Paradox says the Manta Update is available to all players; this checks the patch separately from DLC ownership.
  3. Open the same account's owned add-ons or manage-game-content screen. Look specifically for The Silver Seas or the Expansion Pass 4 entitlement, and confirm install status if the platform exposes it.
  4. Start or configure a realm and inspect its available content/options. Do not treat the expansion's advertised sea features as proof that every realm template contains the same water layout.
  5. If you are using a free-play weekend, read that platform's current end time and eligibility. A launch announcement is a dated snapshot, not a current offer guarantee.
  6. If the content remains missing, record platform, account/storefront, installed build, entitlement label and the exact menu where it disappears; then compare current official support notes or community reports.

Use the access checker

The local checklist translates your own answers into follow-up checks. It cannot connect to Steam, Xbox, PlayStation or Paradox, and it does not read a save, detect installed files, or certify that an expansion is playable.

Community reports and limits

If the launcher and store disagree, compare reports on the Steam forum or contact the relevant platform's support. Steam discussions can be useful for discovering a similar symptom, but they are player posts and may involve a different build, operating system or account. Never share account tokens or purchase receipts containing personal information in a public thread.

Before you play

  • I checked the patch and paid expansion as separate items.
  • I used the storefront account that launches this copy of the game.
  • I treated a free-play weekend as temporary and platform-specific.
  • I checked the realm options rather than assuming a sea layout.

Frequently asked questions

Does installing Manta give me Silver Seas?

No. Paradox describes Manta as an update for all players and Silver Seas as a separate expansion. Verify your account's add-on entitlement.

Does the free weekend mean I own the game afterward?

No permanent entitlement is established by the dated announcement. Check the current storefront promotion terms and your owned library.

Which platforms did the expansion launch on?

Paradox's November 3, 2026 notice names PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Availability and editions may change; verify the current store page.
