Fallout 76 Activities: how to find the rotating list
Short answer: open the map and check Featured Activity. Since the Backwoods update, smaller Events were renamed Activities and placed in a time-based rotation; Public Events remain a separate category with a separate icon and reward pool.
1. First separate the three labels
2. Use the rotation without chasing old location triggers
- Open the map and inspect Featured Activity before fast-travelling to a remembered event marker.
- Pick an Activity currently listed and use its displayed start/join route; the March 2026 notes say the pool advances on a time-based rotation, approximately every ten minutes, with availability depending on which Activities are being completed.
- Do not expect the same Activity to repeat until the available pool has cycled; the exact visible list is the live source of truth.
- After completion, check the reward screen and your inventory rather than relying on an older farming guide's drop table.
3. Exceptions the release notes called out
- Powering Up: still activated by approaching one of the three broken power plants; Bethesda says availability is on a fresh server or eight hours after the last repair.
- Riding Shotgun: excluded from the rotation pool; repeat by speaking to Vinny, with a 20-minute wait noted in Backwoods.
- Hordes: appear as an Activity but do not interfere with the stated rotation.
- These are dated release-note rules, not a promise against subsequent hotfixes. Check current patch notes if the map behaves differently.
4. Is an Activity or Public Event better for legendary materials?
Bethesda's Backwoods base rewards list 75 Caps, a chance at a Legendary Item, one regional schematic/mod, 3–5 Legendary Scrip and level-based XP for Activities. Public Events list 150 Caps, two Legendary Items, 3–5 Legendary Modules, three Treasury Notes, plus conditional bait/map rewards and level-based XP. These are the published base pools; unique event rewards and later adjustments may differ. The October 20 notes specifically fixed a Tunnel of Love recipe-drop issue, so check the current reward description for any event you are farming. Choose the event for the material you need, not just the label.
5. A practical pre-join check
- Name the target: Scrip, Modules, Treasury Notes, a unique drop, or just XP.
- Read the current event description and any special objective before spending caps on travel.
- For Public Events, allow for an extra legendary guest on selected events, but do not assume Bigfoot appears every time: Bethesda describes a chance, not a guaranteed spawn.
- When the rotation or rewards differ from this guide, capture the current patch/build and follow the live game instead.

Fallout 76 unique legendary crafting: check the cost before changing a favorite
Short answer: The Slasher update made specially tagged unique weapons and armor eligible for legendary-mod changes and a fourth legendary mod. It also changed the workbench costs. Inspect the item's Unique tag and the exact confirmation window before committing materials.
1. Confirm the item and the operation
- Inspect the item and confirm Bethesda's “unique” tag appears. Do not infer eligibility just from a memorable name.
- At a Workbench, distinguish changing Legendary Mods on an owned unique item from crafting a unique item at the workbench. The release notes list different costs for these actions.
- Read the confirmation screen: Bethesda says it shows the replaced mod and warns when the incoming mod is not known by your character.
- Stop if the item, slot, or material amount does not match the current in-game preview.
2. Separate normal base cost from the unique-item multiplier
The Sep 15 notes list both the tier base values and a separate 10× unique-item multiplier. The 500/1,000 values above are arithmetic derived from those two statements, not a separately quoted price table. Confirm the exact current amount shown by your Workbench before applying a mod; do not spend based solely on our derived example.
3. Choose whether to modify now or wait
4. Safe workbench sequence
- Check the installed game build against the dated Slasher notes; the note identifies version 1.7.26.13.
- Inspect the item and note its current effects and star count.
- Open the appropriate weapon or armor Workbench and choose Modify.
- Read the mod slot, replacement notice, known-plan notice, and Scrip/material total.
- Compare the shown cost with the table above. If it differs, trust the live screen and check later patch notes; do not confirm on a stale guide.
- Only confirm after deciding that the outgoing effect can be lost and that the new effect fits your intended build.
5. Boundaries and community context
This is a cost-and-safety guide, not a “best legendary rolls” ranking. Bethesda's notes establish eligibility and costs, but not which mod is best for every weapon, perk loadout, or play mode. Player reports can help surface edge cases, but they are not authoritative patch documentation.
